Dr. Maassen currently overseas USAID’s Aqaba Community and Economic Development Program implemented by AECOM International Development. The program supports economic development in Jordan’s largest economic zone through regulatory reform, good governance programs and private sector development initiatives.
Dr. Maassen has managed complex, multi-million dollar international programs in the Middle East and Asia. He has a proven track record managing multidisciplinary initiatives and is experienced in quality implementation, governance and risk management of large scale technical assistance programs.
Prior to joining AECOM, Dr. Maassen was Head of the IFC/World Bank Office in Armenia implementing a country-wide corporate governance program. He also managed several USAID-sponsored programs including a corporate governance and company law program in Macedonia with Deloitte and financial restructuring and privatization programs in Afghanistan with Cardno.
He taught international financial markets and corporate governance in the MBA program of Erasmus University’s Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands and Indonesia.
